Principal / Associate Water EIA Specialist
Cardiff | Hybrid Working | £d.o.e. + Bonus + Employee Ownership Benefits
Eden Scott is working exclusively with Wallingford HydroSolutions (WHS) on the appointment of a Principal / Associate Water EIA Specialist to support the continued growth of its highly respected Water Environment team.
This is a rare opportunity to join a specialist consultancy known for delivering high-quality hydrology, hydrogeology, flood risk and water environment services across the UK. Unlike many larger consultancies, WHS offers the chance to remain close to the technical work while still influencing strategy, clients and team development.
The Opportunity
We're keen to speak with experienced Water Environment professionals who have a strong track record of leading and reviewing:
- Water Environment EIA Chapters
- Water Framework Directive (WFD) Assessments
- Hydrology and Hydrogeology Assessments
- Water Quality Assessments
- Catchment and River Basin Studies
- Renewable Energy and Infrastructure EIAs
- Regulatory Engagement with the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales

This role will see you acting as a technical lead across a diverse project portfolio spanning renewable energy, infrastructure and development schemes, whilst supporting the growth of a talented and collaborative team.
About You
You are likely to be operating at Senior, Principal or Associate level and may currently hold a title such as:
- Principal Water Environment Consultant
- Principal Hydrologist
- Associate Hydrologist
- Water EIA Specialist
- Water Framework Directive Specialist
- Principal Hydrogeologist
- Water Resources Consultant
You will bring:
- Significant experience authoring and reviewing Water EIA chapters
- Strong understanding of hydrology, hydrogeology and water quality
- Experience managing clients and multidisciplinary project teams
- Chartered status, or be working towards it
- A genuine interest in mentoring and developing colleagues
