About The Role

As part of Sanderson’s ongoing expansion, we are seeking a Principal Developer who will play a pivotal role in leading technical delivery across multiple client-facing projects. This is a strategic leadership position that combines hands-on technical expertise with team management responsibilities. The successful candidate will support and mentor engineers, oversee the development lifecycle, and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions aligned with industry best practices. The role offers an exciting opportunity to influence technical standards, drive innovation, and contribute to the growth of our talented development team.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development within data-intensive environments, particularly in FinTech or financial services sectors. Relevant qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Extensive experience in leading technical projects, managing development teams, and working within structured change management processes is essential. Proficiency in SQL Server, data manipulation, and visualization tools such as Power BI or SSRS is required. Additionally, excellent stakeholder management, communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and mentoring a team of developers across multiple levels, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Supporting the professional development, performance management, and technical growth of team members.
  • Driving engineering standards, best practices, and ensuring adherence to quality benchmarks.
  • Reviewing and approving technical solution designs to ensure they meet client requirements and industry standards.
  • Overseeing project build activities, technical delivery, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  • Managing defect triage, resolution, and supporting testing phases to maintain high-quality outputs.
  • Serving as an escalation point for complex technical issues, providing guidance and resolution strategies.
  • Leading peer reviews, code reviews, and ensuring the team’s output aligns with organizational standards.
  • Collaborating closely with project stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and client satisfaction.
