Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a data focused Principal Business Analyst to join the Data Technology Platforms Team within Asset Management Platform. The team owns the data platform at Schroders and supports data delivery for all business units including Public and Private Assets, Client, Corporate and Operations and Wealth Management. This includes a broad range of data applications from Reference Data Masters, Operational Data Stores to Analytics and AI applications

We need a business analyst who also knows their way around a database, who understands the business use of data, the importance of governance and standards, balanced against constant demand for delivery. They must have detailed knowledge of CRM systems, Client Lifecycle and data and analytics associated with these processes.

About Schroders

Schroders is a global investment manager which provides active asset management, wealth management and investment solutions. We aim to provide excellent investment performance to clients through active management. We serve a diverse client base that includes pension schemes, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, high net worth individuals, family offices, as well as end clients through partnerships with distributors, financial advisers, and online platforms.

Established in 1804, we have around 5,500 people across 36 global locations. Schroders' success can be attributed to its diversified business model, spanning different asset classes, client types and geographies.

Technology at Schroders

There's a huge amount of change going on at Schroders. Technology's shaping our business more and more, so there are many opportunities waiting to be grabbed. And because we're a big financial player, we can put hefty backing behind good ideas.

We're a serious business – we have enormous responsibilities to our clients and shareholders. But just because we're suited and booted, that doesn't make us stuffy; our tech teams are friendlier and more informal than you might expect.

The base

We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We’re close to our clients, in the heart of the UK’s financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.

The team

Asset Management Platform provides the technology platform for all of Schroders operational functions across Public Assets, Wealth Management and Private Markets.

We support traditional business processes such as Trade Operations, Portfolio Accounting, Risk Management, Performance Measurement and Attribution, Regulatory Compliance, Client Reporting, and Workflow Automation.

In addition, we also support less traditional areas such as Real Estate, Private Equity, Private Debt and Credit Alternatives and Renewable Energy Infrastructure.

Our primary goal is to deliver business value through application of domain expertise and provision of robust solutions to our customers. The team works very closely with the business domains we support to create a Technology platform with an emphasis on a stable operating environment that can function efficiently and at scale.

The teams primarily operate under agile ways of working but are flexible across large programmes of work.

The Data Technology Platforms team owns the delivery of the Group Data Platform used to support Schroders’ Operational, Reference and Analytical data requirements. Spanning a variety of tools and technologies, the platform is the strategic solution for providing data throughout the organisation. Our solutions vary greatly depending on requirement and may involve database development, applications, and services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you’ll do

  • Represent the Data Technology Platforms team across a portfolio of concurrent initiatives, ensuring delivery of data solutions that provide clear business outcomes.
  • Independently lead discovery and requirement elicitation with business stakeholders; facilitate workshops, challenge assumptions, resolve ambiguity, and drive timely decisions.
  • Translate business needs into clear, testable specifications, including epics/user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data definitions, source-to-target mappings, and data quality/control requirements.
  • Partner with data engineers, architects, QA, and support teams to shape solution options, assess feasibility, and ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements through to implementation.
  • Use SQL to investigate, profile, and validate data in SQL Server and Snowflake, supporting impact analysis, reconciliation, defect triage, and UAT readiness.
  • Support testing and release activities end-to-end: defining test scenarios, coordinating UAT, validating outcomes (including data reconciliation), managing defects, and confirming production readiness.
  • Own change through to production, including cutover planning inputs, release notes, operational handover to first-line support, and early-life support coordination.
  • Manage priorities across multiple projects, proactively surfacing risks, dependencies, and delivery trade-offs.

The knowledge, experience, and qualifications you need

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst delivering data and/or technology change through the full SDLC in a regulated environment.
  • Strong SQL querying skills (analysis, reconciliation, data validation) with experience working with SQL Server and Snowflake (or equivalent modern cloud data warehouse plus willingness to ramp up quickly).
  • Strong requirements engineering capability: elicitation, structured documentation, acceptance criteria, traceability, and stakeholder sign-off.
  • Ability to challenge requirements and proposed solutions constructively, balancing short-term delivery with strategic alignment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience working with senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with large, complex datasets.
  • Strong delivery discipline: able to manage multiple workstreams, maintain momentum, and coordinate across teams.

The knowledge, experience, and qualifications that will help

  • Deep understanding of client onboarding, client servicing and client lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience working with Salesforce, including customer or client data, workflows, reporting and integrations.
  • Strong knowledge of CRM operating models, including client, prospect, intermediary and relationship-manager data.
  • Understanding of client, contact, account, relationship, hierarchy and interaction data, including how these entities are linked and maintained.
  • Experience delivering client lifecycle analytics, such as onboarding progress, client engagement, pipeline conversion, retention and servicing activity.
  • Strong awareness of CRM data quality, ownership, duplication, standardisation, lineage and governance.
  • Own and articulate the product vision and roadmap for Client/CRM data capabilities, aligned to business and client outcomes.
  • Experience working with marketing data and campaign processes, including audience segmentation, campaign execution, engagement tracking, lead management and response analysis.
  • Experience in associated Investment Management data domains (e.g., holdings/positions, transactions, pricing, reference data, benchmarks, performance, risk, sustainability).
  • Familiarity with data platform concepts such as batch/stream processing, orchestration patterns, data lineage/metadata, and data quality monitoring.
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery models (backlog refinement, sprint ceremonies, defining “definition of ready/done”).
  • Exposure to production support models, operational readiness, and support handover for data services.
