Principal Business Analyst – Digital Transformation
Pay Range: £65,000 to £70,000 (pro-rata for part-time)

Core Purpose
As Principal Business Analyst, you’ll:
- Lead the business analysis capability, shaping strategic outcomes.
- Ensure digital products/services meet user and business needs.
- Operate at the highest influence level, setting standards and mentoring peers.
- Align business objectives with technology strategy in high-impact programmes.
This role pivots around driving digital transformation with robust analytical solutions.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a small team of Business Analysts
- Define and own the organisation’s business analysis approach, standards, and frameworks
- Lead discovery and scoping for complex programmes aligned with strategy/policy
- Provide expert analysis for high-value, high-risk initiatives across platforms/services
- Shape business cases, benefits realisation plans, and options appraisals
- Ensure requirements traceability from strategy through to delivery and benefits measurement
- Mentor junior analysts, build a Community of Practice (CoP) for BA discipline
- Define and oversee career pathways, training plans, and recruitment standards
- Champion innovation in analysis techniques, tools, and modern practices
- Act as the escalation point for analysis-related issues across programmes
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder negotiations, and escalation with senior leadership
- Ensure compliance with governance, data protection, accessibility, and risk mitigation standards

Requirements
Who We Seek
Essential Criteria:
- Extensive experience in business analysis within large-scale digital transformation programmes
- Proven ability to strategic leadership and senior stakeholder influence
- Expertise in requirements engineering, process modelling, and business case development
- Strong technology trend knowledge in cloud platforms, Agile, DevOps
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills
- IIBA Certification/qualification (or equivalent)

- Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 A-Levels / equivalent Level 3 Diploma
- GCSE English (Grade B) or equivalent Level 2, OR pass a Level 2 Literacy Assessment
Desirable:
- Experience in government or regulated sectors
- Familiarity with UK Digital & Transformation (DDaT) & SFIA Level 6 roles
- Certifications: CBAP, BCS Advanced Business Analysis, Agile BA
