You will be working in our internal design consultancy Skanska Technology working closely with our construction businesses to design and build complex civil engineering projects nationwide - combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.

Skanska Technology Limited (STL) is an expanding in-house engineering design consultancy supporting projects across the water, heavy industrial, power and design and build sectors. Based in our Bridgend office, you’ll join a flexible team and work across multiple sectors to support exciting projects.

We Are Currently Looking For

We are currently looking for a Principal Civil Engineer who will be responsible for the management and technical design delivery of a portfolio of small projects or of a larger project.

As The Principal Civil Engineer, You Will

  • Prepare outline & detailed civil/structural design, calculations, clear and well-structured reports, drawings and other deliverables in accordance with the relevant design standards.
  • Manage the planning, direction and control of tasks, people and resources to deliver successful projects to agreed time and cost expectations.
  • Prepare and control project budgets and have a good level of commercial and contractual understanding.
  • Lead and guide a team and develop staff to meet technical and managerial needs.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, contractors and the supply chain to understand and develop project objectives.

We Are Looking For

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or suitable alternative qualification.
  • Chartered membership of an appropriate professional body.
  • Good working knowledge, understanding and experience of the applicable Eurocodes, UK Industry Codes of Practice and ability to mentor and manage others.
  • Experienced in structural design using common building materials.
  • Technical design & management experience on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • UK/EEC driving licence.
