NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department is fast growing with hybrid opportunities available up and down the country. We're striving to create a multidisciplinary team to offer our clients the best range of talent.
BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferrable.
The Principal Civil Engineer will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of the off‑site Associated Development (AD) infrastructure required for the Project. You will be part of the Project Client Technical Team, reporting to the Associated Development Lead, and will work within a multi‑disciplinary environment during a fast‑paced and evolving programme.
Principal Accountabilities
- Define and develop the civil engineering requirements for all Associated Development (AD) facilities, ensuring alignment with project objectives, regulatory needs, and client specifications.
- Lead and coordinate early site assessment activities, including geotechnical, hydrological, environmental, and access‑related considerations to inform concept and outline design.
- Oversee development of civil layouts and infrastructure concepts for AD facilities such as the Park & Ride, Logistics Centre/Lorry Park, Workers’ Accommodation Campus, fabrication centre, Marine Offloading Facility (MOLF), and Transfer Node Facility.
- Maintain ownership of civil engineering inputs to AD scope, requirements, interfaces, and design changes, ensuring design intent is preserved and deviations are managed through due process.
- Provide technical oversight and assurance of deliverables prepared by Foundation Engineer, the Technology Provider, and the Owner’s Engineer, ensuring compliance with standards, regulations, and GBE‑N requirements.
- Coordinate with planning, environmental, regulatory and consenting teams to support submissions, assessments, and approvals relevant to AD civil works.
- Engage with local authorities, transport bodies, and other stakeholders to confirm interfaces, constraints, and technical dependencies.
- Contribute to risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and schedule and cost inputs related to civil elements of the AD programme.
- Support the development of digital models (e.g., BIM) and maintain clear records of engineering decisions, assumptions, and design evolution for AD facilities.
- Provide expert civil engineering advice to resolve technical issues, manage interfaces with other engineering disciplines, and support integration of AD works with the main site programme.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
