About The Role

A Principal Civil Engineer is sought by RGB Recruitment to join a consultancy’s Bristol office, working full-time on a permanent basis. The salary range for this position is £50,000 to £65,000 per annum. This role involves leading technical design across a varied portfolio of development projects, guiding schemes from initial concept through to construction. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions across the Southwest. The position requires strong technical expertise and leadership capabilities. Principal Civil Engineer

We’re looking for an ambitious Principal Civil Engineer to join a growing and collaborative team in Bristol for a global consultancy. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions across the Southwest and beyond.

The Role

As a Principal Civil Engineer, you’ll take the lead on the technical delivery of a wide range of civil infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading the technical delivery of civil infrastructure projects across a variety of sectors.
  • Designing and reviewing highway and drainage infrastructure.
  • Managing projects from concept and planning through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, clients and external stakeholders.
  • Liaising with local authorities, highway and drainage authorities, utility companies and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to a high technical standard.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians.
  • Supporting business development and contributing to the continued growth of the Bristol team.
  • Driving innovative and sustainable approaches to infrastructure design.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong consultancy background and a proven track record of delivering high-quality civil infrastructure projects.

You’ll hold a BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, and will ideally be professionally qualified or working towards Chartered Engineer status.

You’ll Also Bring

  • Strong experience in highway and drainage design, from concept through to detailed design.
  • A good understanding of relevant UK standards, regulations and infrastructure design principles.
  • Experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent client-facing, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong project management and commercial awareness.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers and technicians.
  • Experience using Civil 3D and InfoDrainage would be advantageous.
