Are you a Chartered Civil Engineer looking to step into a leadership role where you can genuinely influence the direction of a growing engineering team? A well-established multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an Principal Civil Engineer to help drive the continued growth of its civil engineering offering across the UK. This is a senior position with significant responsibility, providing the opportunity to lead technical delivery, support business development and influence the future direction of the civil engineering team.
Working closely with Directors and key stakeholders, the successful Principal Civil Engineer will oversee a diverse portfolio of projects across residential, commercial, education, healthcare, industrial and public sector developments, delivering highways, drainage, flood risk and infrastructure solutions from planning through to construction.

We Are Looking For An Principal Civil Engineer Lead Who:
- Is degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline;
- Is Chartered (CEng MICE or equivalent);
- Has strong technical expertise in highways, drainage, flood risk and SuDS design;
- Has experience delivering UK development and infrastructure projects;
- Can prepare and review planning and technical approval submissions;
- Has experience leading projects, managing programmes and coordinating multidisciplinary teams;
- Possesses strong commercial awareness and experience managing fees, risks and budgets;
- Is proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar design software;
- Enjoys mentoring engineers and contributing to team development;
- Has excellent communication skills and can confidently engage with clients, authorities and project stakeholders.
As The Successful Principal Civil Engineering, You Will:
- Lead civil engineering commissions from feasibility and planning through to construction support;
- Deliver highways, drainage, flood risk, SuDS and infrastructure design solutions;
- Review technical designs, calculations, reports and project documentation;
- Identify project constraints, risks and opportunities relating to access, flood risk, utilities and ground conditions;
- Manage project scope, resources, programmes and quality assurance processes;
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams;
- Liaise with Local Authorities, water companies, highway authorities and the Environment Agency;
- Represent the business at project meetings, workshops and site visits;
- Support fee proposals, bid submissions and business development initiatives;
- Mentor and develop engineers and technicians across the team;
- Help establish technical standards, workflows and best practice within the civil engineering function.
