About the Role

Are you a Principal Civil Engineer or experienced Senior Civil Engineer looking to make the next career step, with proven consultancy experience, who wants to be much more than a number in a crowd? Caulmert currently has an opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to work in the Company’s Engineering Team.

Location: The role is hybrid and based in either Greater Manchester or North Wales.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with other members of the design team (either internal or external)
  • Liaising with contractors, clients, third-party organisations and stakeholders, answering queries concerning technical detailing
  • Attendance at design, project progress, and client engagement meetings
  • Civil design to all relevant standards and European Codes
  • Producing preliminary design solutions and reviewing with clients as part of the design strategy
  • Producing detailed designs, calculations and specifications including GA and technical reviews
  • Highways adoption applications Section 38 / 278
  • Water company adoption applications Section 104 / 106
  • Road alignments and corridor design
  • Site wide Cut and Fill analysis
  • Managing projects to cost, programme and sustainability criteria
  • Supervising the engineering technicians on technical / construction details and undertaking QA reviews
  • Mentoring and assisting junior staff
  • Complying with designers’ duties under the CDM Regulations
  • Promoting the company’s services and being alert to new opportunities

Qualifications

  • Ambition, commitment and integrity
  • Minimum BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 7 years post-qualification experience in civil engineering
  • Chartered or near-chartered status with a relevant body (MICE)
  • Detailed knowledge of civil design and detailing using all relevant UK and European codes of practice
  • Knowledge of BREEAM, sustainability objectives and embodied carbon
  • Good experience in engineering analysis and design software, including Microdrainage, Causeway, Site 3D, Civils 3D, AutoCAD
  • Client-focused approach with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prepare fee proposals to secure new projects for the business
  • Confidence and ability in team and project management
  • Ability to supervise and develop a team whilst working as part of a wider team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of own work and that of others working for you
  • Ability to take action and make decisions without close supervision
  • Commercial awareness
  • UK driving license and own transport
  • Competent at using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
