Job Title: Principal Civil & Structural Designer
Duration: 12 months

This opportunity sits within a global EPC contractor supporting the energy transition, with a strong focus on consulting services across the asset lifecycle and next generation project delivery. The role is centred on the development, coordination and delivery of high-quality 3D models and engineering drawing packages for complex industrial projects. This position offers the chance to work across multidisciplinary teams, supporting BIM, structural detailing and civil and structural design delivery to demanding technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and delivery of civil and structural 3D models and 2D drawings in line with project specifications, industry standards and client requirements.
- Develop detailed drawing packages including general arrangements, reinforced concrete drawings, steelwork fabrication details and construction issue deliverables.
- Coordinate design outputs between UK engineering and design teams and global delivery teams to maintain alignment on technical requirements and standards.
- Review, check and approve drawings and models to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior designers and draughting staff within the project team.
- Ensure all deliverables comply with applicable codes including Eurocodes, BS standards and company quality procedures.
- Work closely with civil and structural engineers, architects and other disciplines including mechanical, piping and electrical to support integrated design solutions.
- Manage drawing registers, revisions and document control activities to maintain accurate project records.
- Participate in design reviews, model reviews and constructability assessments with internal teams and stakeholders.
- Resolve technical queries and design issues arising during modelling and detailing stages.
- Support the development and implementation of CAD and BIM standards, workflows and best practices.
- Use design tools including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, E3D, Tekla and Navisworks to support efficient project delivery.
- Liaise with fabricators, contractors and site teams where required to clarify detailing and construction requirements.
- Contribute to project planning through estimating draughting hours, monitoring progress and identifying risks to deliverables.
- Promote continuous improvement in design quality, consistency and productivity across offices.

Required Experience:
- Senior-level experience in civil and structural 3D design and draughting within multidisciplinary industrial projects.
- Experience coordinating work between head office engineering functions and global delivery teams.
- Experience delivering constructible, clash-free design models and detailed engineering drawing packages.

Required Skills:
- Strong capability in developing 3D BIM models and federated design models.
- Proven technical knowledge of reinforced concrete detailing, structural steel fabrication drawings, foundations and underground detailing.
- Working knowledge of applicable design codes and standards including Eurocodes and BS standards.
- Ability to review and approve drawings and models for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
- Strong multidisciplinary coordination skills across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, piping and electrical interfaces.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, E3D, Tekla and Navisworks.
- Ability to manage drawing registers, revisions and document control processes effectively.
- Strong communication skills to support coordination across geographically dispersed teams.
- Commitment to health, safety, environmental and quality management compliance.
