About the Role
Elevate your engineering career at Airbus Belfast as a Principal Configuration Management Engineer, supporting our cutting-edge A220 wing programs. In this pivotal role, you will guide a dedicated team through the entire product lifecycle, driving seamless configuration control, leading complex engineering change management, and integrating advanced aerospace toolsets like SAP. This is a unique opportunity to champion best practices, shape critical manufacturing deliverables, and directly ensure the on-time delivery of world-class aircraft.
How You Will Contribute to the Team
You will act as a CM pillar team lead within the Airbus Belfast engineering organization, which may consist of:
- Engineering change control planning and management
- Configuration identification and control
- Status accounting, Verification and Audit to ensure seamless configuration control through the entire life cycle.
- Manage Engineering Change Process, Configuration Management or Nomenclature activities, securing stakeholder alignment and approvals and acting as the focal point for A220 Program CM integration within your discipline.
- Support and on occasion stand in for the CM manager to address priority meetings & Tasks
- Manage team priorities as directed to ensure there is no risk to aircraft delivery schedules.
- Partner closely with Program and manufacturing teams to achieve deadlines.
- Anticipate challenges and communicate risks/ opportunities transparently to Stakeholders.
- Implement effective corrective action and preventative measures.
- Compile and check deliverables generated by your discipline for Wing level and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Champion best practice, lessons learned and the integration of advanced tools like SAP into the operations environment.
- Develop team members through knowledge sharing and removal of single points of failure.
About You
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that sufficient detail is provided to demonstrate how they meet essential job criteria, as this alone will be used for vetting purposes.
Essential
- Be degree qualified (BSc/BEng) and have at least 3 years’ relevant Engineering experience OR Have a HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline and have at least 5 years’ relevant Engineering experience.
- CM Expertise: Strong end-to-end understanding and full lifecycle experience of technical and engineering change management processes.
- Technical leadership skills with Project Management experience and track record of successfully delivering CM solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to provide clarity and present to cross functional multi-level audiences.

Desirable
- Previous experience working in the Aerospace industry
- Toolset Knowledge (Preferred – Training Provided): Familiarity with aerospace toolsets such as:
- Catia/Enovia
- Optegra/ PDM
- MAXIM, CAPP (or other ERP systems)
- SAP (S4/HANA)
- Project Management tools (Microsoft Project, Access, Planisware etc…)
- Opentext
