Principal Construction Engineer
Shape the Future of Nuclear
Egis is seeking a Principal Construction Engineer to serve as the construction engineering technical authority for a major nuclear programme based in Nottinghamshire. This is a unique opportunity to lead the delivery strategy for a nationally significant project, driving innovation through modular construction, digital delivery, and world-class safety standards.
The Role
You will lead construction engineering activities, ensuring complex facilities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Define construction delivery strategies, methodologies, sequencing, logistics, lifting operations, access, and temporary works.
- Ensure designs are safe, buildable, and aligned with project objectives.
- Champion DfMA, MMC, offsite manufacturing, modular construction, and digital rehearsals.
- Lead construction readiness reviews, technical assurance, and stage-gate approvals.
- Drive 4D/5D modelling and digital construction simulations.
- Oversee contractor methodologies, compliance, and construction assurance.
- Manage interfaces across engineering, procurement, project controls, commissioning, and supply chain teams.
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert guidance to senior stakeholders and delivery partners.

About You
Essential
- Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent.
- Proven experience leading construction engineering on major infrastructure, nuclear, defence, energy, or other highly regulated projects.
- Strong expertise in:
- Construction methodologies and sequencing
- Temporary works and lifting operations
- Logistics and site operations
- DfMA, MMC, modular construction, and offsite manufacturing
- Digital construction planning and constructability reviews
- Strong knowledge of CDM regulations, construction risk management, and safety leadership.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable
- Experience in fusion, nuclear new-build, or first-of-a-kind programmes.
- Knowledge of FEL and project assurance frameworks.
- Experience supporting regulatory submissions, permitting, or safety case development.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts and supplier assurance.
- Project or Construction Management qualification (PMP or equivalent).
