Principal Consultant
Public Sector Transformation Consulting
📍 London (2 days per week) with UK-wide client travel
💰 Up £85,000 + Bonus + Benefits

We're partnering with an ambitious and rapidly growing consultancy that helps public sector organisations deliver meaningful and sustainable transformation.
Having established a strong reputation within healthcare and government, the business is entering an exciting phase of growth and looking to appoint a Principal Consultant to support the expansion of its public sector consulting practice.
This is an opportunity to join a consultancy where you'll have genuine influence over client outcomes, project delivery, business growth, and the future direction of the practice.

The Role
As a Principal Consultant, you'll lead complex client engagements, build trusted stakeholder relationships, and play a key role in both project delivery and business growth.
You'll work across a diverse portfolio of transformation programmes including:
- Digital transformation
- Organisational redesign
- Target operating model development
- Service improvement and transformation
- Programme mobilisation and governance
- Strategic reviews and business cases
- Local government transformation
- Public sector operational improvement

You'll have significant autonomy, working directly with senior client stakeholders while helping develop more junior consultants and associates.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver complex consulting engagements across the public sector
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams and specialist associates
- Design and deliver high-quality client outputs and recommendations
- Support business development, bid writing and proposal activities
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships
- Coach and mentor consultants within project teams
- Contribute to the growth and evolution of the consultancy's offerings
About You
We're looking for an experienced consultant who combines strong delivery capability with commercial awareness and exceptional people skills.
You'll Bring
- Experience working within a consulting environment
- A track record of leading successful transformation programmes
- Strong stakeholder management skills across all organisational levels
- Experience managing project teams and workstreams
- Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capability
- Experience contributing to proposals, bids or business development activity

Highly Desirable
- Local government experience
- Wider public sector experience including central government, policing or defence
- Digital transformation experience
- Target operating model or organisational design experience
