Senior / Principal Recruitment Consultant – Public Sector
Location: London
Salary: £50,000 + Commission
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office)
About the Role
An executive search consultancy is expanding its public sector team and is looking for an experienced recruiter ready to step into senior, high-impact search work across government and public sector markets.
This is a chance to operate at leadership level, partnering with public sector organisations on retained and exclusive assignments. Every mandate runs through a formal, compliant route to market, and the environment is built around quality, discretion and long-term relationships.
The Company
- Every assignment is retained or exclusive.
- Structured, evidence-based selection methodology: standardised scoring, multiple assessors and bias-awareness training as standard.
- Appointments centre on strategic influence and national impact, not transactional volume hiring.
- Dedicated research support behind every consultant, with cross-trained cover across the team.
- A genuine track record of promoting from within. Several of today's team leaders started in junior or research-support roles.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
