Principal Consultant, Digital Transformation
UK | Hybrid, with occasional client travel
NPPV3 Clearance Required
Ncounter is supporting a growing technology and management consultancy looking for an experienced Principal Consultant to lead complex digital transformation engagements across the UK public sector.
This is a hands-on consulting position for someone who can take ownership of an engagement from initial discovery and problem definition, through mobilisation and delivery, to implementation and aftercare. You will work directly with senior client stakeholders, establish what needs to be achieved, navigate governance and delivery challenges, and remain accountable for getting the work to the required outcome.
We are particularly interested in consultants who have developed broad experience rather than specialising in one discipline. Your background may span business analysis, delivery leadership and business change, giving you the flexibility to move between strategic thinking and practical delivery depending on the engagement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
