Role Overview

The Principal Consultant, Pricing & Market Access at Parexel is responsible for leading a team of professionals to delivering strategic market access and commercialization solutions to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and specialty healthcare clients. The Principal Consultant serves as a trusted advisor to clients, leading complex engagements across pricing, reimbursement, HTA, value communications, evidence generation, launch readiness, and market access strategy.

Your focus will be to deliver client services whilst building trusted relationships with new and existing clients to build the Parexel Access Consulting brand and reputation in the business.

Working within a CRO environment, the Principal Consultant collaborates closely with experts across clinical development, real-world evidence (RWE), HEOR, medical, regulatory, and commercialization functions to deliver integrated solutions that support clients throughout the product lifecycle.

As a Principal within the Access team, you will work directly with clients to develop business opportunities and deliver projects ensuring high client satisfaction. The role combines strategic consulting leadership, business development, project oversight, and team mentorship, while contributing to the growth and development of the Pricing & Market Access practice.

Your Expertise

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • 6+ years Pricing & Market Access experience, in a consulting environment
  • 3+ years project management experience in pricing & market access and/or HTA and literature review projects with the ability to control projects from proposal through to delivery with successful client outcomes
  • Recognised as a trusted advisor within the market access and healthcare community, with the ability to translate industry relationships, market insight, and professional credibility into long-term client value and sustainable business growth.
  • A strong track-record of timely and high-quality project delivery, with demonstrable experience in producing client-ready deliverables that clearly show an understanding of client requirements

Desirable Skills and Experiences

  • Experience in European HTA, pricing, and reimbursement processes, particularly within Germany (AMNOG) and/or France (HAS), is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic market insights and client recommendations through deep expertise in EU and/or US market access environments, including HTA, pricing and reimbursement, healthcare policy, payer evidence requirements, claims data, and managed care analytics.

Education

  • 2:1 or above Bachelor’s degree in a life science discipline, higher degree is desirable

Your Scope & Impact

Strategic Client Advisory

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients on market access, payer, pricing, policy and reimbursement challenges.
  • Take ownership of client relationships, lead proposals, and seek out new opportunities
  • Lead collaborations with other businesses within Parexel to deliver client services and drive the development of new offerings
  • Lead the development of strategic recommendations across:
    • Global and regional market access landscape assessments
    • Pricing and market access strategy
    • Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA), HTA and reimbursement readiness and submission
    • Integrated Evidence Generation Planning (IEGP) and strategy
    • Payer value proposition development
    • Value communication materials, including value stories, global value dossiers and objection handlers
  • Advise clients on evolving access and policy environments, including:
    • EU HTAR and JCA requirements
    • UK and European HTA/reimbursement/pricing processes and policies
    • US payer and IRA-related considerations
    • International reference pricing dynamics

Project Leadership

  • Lead and oversee complex consulting engagements from proposal through delivery.
  • Provide strategic direction to multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, client-ready recommendations and deliverables.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and client expectations and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Identify and mitigate delivery risks while driving successful project outcomes.
  • Lead executive-level meetings, workshops, and presentations.
  • Works within broad project guidelines and facilitates issue and conflict resolutions.
  • Capitalizes on opportunities to improve project efficiency, results or team performance and proactively takes action

Business Development & Account Growth

  • Support new business generation through proposals, RFP responses, and client pitches.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships.
  • Develop a strong understanding of client priorities and unmet needs.
  • Develops business solutions addressing specific client needs using expertise, best practices and knowledge of the client’s business and key industry drivers
  • Collaborate with commercial leadership to drive account growth, through active prospecting, relationship building and identifying new business opportunities
  • Contribute to sales targets through direct and indirect business development activities.

Commercial Expectations

  • Generate and support NBA and revenue growth through proactive client engagement.
  • Contribute to new business opportunities across market access, HEOR, RWE, medical affairs, and evidence services.
  • Develop strong relationships with key client stakeholders. May act as a trusted advisor to clients, often on issues that lack precedence or are not clearly defined. May act as a loaned executive for a client

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and team capability development.
  • Provide coaching and constructive feedback to junior team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
  • Serve as a role model for consulting excellence and professional development.

Thought Leadership

  • Contribute to the development of market access methodologies, tools, and intellectual property.
  • Support publication of white papers, articles, and conference content.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, including:
    • ISPOR
    • World EPA
    • HTAi
    • DIA
    • World Orphan Drug Congress
    • Regional HTA and market access forums

To evaluate the global (US, Europe and APAC) market and its changing landscape and adapt, adjust and develop solutions to ensure coverage of pharmaceutical products
