ERM is a global leader in sustainability and climate advisory, supporting many of the world’s largest companies and investors across sectors to respond to the financial, strategic, and operational implications of sustainability and the low-carbon transition.

Our team

The Private Markets Commercial team is focused on designing and executing the commercial strategy for scaling ERM’s private markets business globally. We work with private equity and infrastructure investors to build differentiated ESG and climate capabilities, supporting fund-level strategy, investment and portfolio value creation, and transformation programmes that strengthen risk management and long-term performance.

We operate at the intersection of sustainability expertise and commercial growth execution, translating market needs into scalable client solutions, strengthening key accounts, and expanding ERM’s position as a trusted advisor to the private markets ecosystem.

This is an opportunity to join a high-growth, high-visibility team shaping the future of private markets sustainability advisory.

The role

As a Principal Consultant, you will play a leadership role in commercial strategy, client growth, and programme execution across ERM’s private markets accounts. You will lead major client programmes, shape account and go-to-market strategies, drive business development, and contribute to the development of ERM’s private markets value proposition globally. You will manage and inspire teams, develop talent, and build trusted senior-level client relationships.

Key responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Lead strategic client engagements and major programmes for private equity and infrastructure investors, including complex multi-workstream delivery.
  • Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with senior investor stakeholders (e.g., Operating Partners, ESG Heads, CIO/COO-level leaders).
  • Shape and execute commercial strategies for priority accounts, including growth planning, opportunity identification and conversion, and cross-service collaboration.
  • Own and drive business development opportunities, leading proposals, client pitches, and commercial negotiations as appropriate.
  • Provide strategic direction and quality oversight across multiple engagements, ensuring deliverables are executive-ready and impact-focused.
  • Drive innovation in ERM’s private markets service offerings and commercial propositions, informed by evolving market needs and regulation.
  • Contribute thought leadership and external market presence through published insights, event participation, and client-facing forums.
  • Lead and develop teams through coaching, mentoring, and creating high-performance delivery cultures.
  • Support leadership in shaping global private markets commercial strategy, scaling delivery models, and improving repeatability and profitability.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
