About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Principal Consultant with a strong consulting background to join a growing procurement and commercial consulting team. This is a senior, client-facing role for someone who has a proven track record of leading complex consulting engagements, managing senior stakeholders and delivering tangible commercial outcomes. We are open to candidates from both direct and indirect procurement backgrounds, across any category. The key requirement is strong consulting experience, commercial and strategic capability, and the ability to lead teams and engagements from initial problem definition through to successful delivery. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, helping organisations solve complex procurement and commercial challenges while shaping and delivering transformational programmes.
Responsibilities

- Lead complex, high-value procurement, commercial and transformation engagements.

- Translate client objectives and strategic priorities into practical, executable solutions.
- Ensure high standards of delivery, quality and commercial impact across engagements.
- Navigate complex challenges, ambiguity and competing priorities to maintain momentum and deliver results.
- Bring a pragmatic, outcome-focused approach rather than simply providing recommendations.
-
Partner with Senior Stakeholders
- Build trusted relationships with senior and executive-level client stakeholders.
- Act as a strategic advisor, challenging thinking and influencing key decisions.
- Understand complex business challenges and shape solutions that deliver measurable value.
- Lead senior-level workshops, steering groups and working sessions.
- Communicate complex ideas, analysis and recommendations with clarity and credibility.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
