Location: Home-Based, United Kingdom
In-office expectation: Occasional travel to Aylesbury, Cambridge, and London required
Salary: Starting salary from £70,000 per annum, depending on experience + generous annual bonus (circa 20%)
Role Overview
We're looking for an exceptional Principal Consultant to join our Professional Services team and provide strategic consulting leadership to some of Esri UK's most important customers.
As a Principal Consultant, you'll be a trusted senior advisor, helping organisations understand how GIS and Esri technology can support their strategic ambitions and deliver measurable business outcomes.
You'll combine deep consulting expertise, customer insight, commercial judgement, and technical credibility to shape complex propositions and influence senior stakeholders. You'll work closely with Sales and Professional Services colleagues to develop opportunities, build long-term customer relationships, and ensure our solutions are grounded in practical delivery experience.
You'll also play a key leadership role within our consulting community, providing direction, coaching, and mentoring to Lead and Senior Consultants and helping shape the future of our Professional Services practice.
As our Principal Consultant, you will:
- Act as a senior trusted advisor to strategic customers, building long-term relationships with senior stakeholders
- Understand customer strategies, challenges, and priorities and identify where GIS and Esri technology can deliver meaningful value
- Shape compelling software and services propositions aligned to customer objectives and measurable business outcomes
- Work closely with Sales colleagues to develop complex customer opportunities and support sustainable business growth
- Lead strategic customer engagements and help organisations plan, adopt, and gain greater value from Esri technology
- Bring strong commercial judgement to opportunity development while ensuring propositions are grounded in practical delivery insight
- Provide strategic consulting input across complex projects, programmes, and customer engagements
- Influence senior decision-makers and communicate complex technical and business concepts with clarity
- Provide direction, coaching, and mentoring to Lead Consultants, Senior Consultants, and other colleagues
- Share market, sector, and technology insight to improve the relevance and quality of our customer propositions
- Contribute to the continued growth and strategic direction of Esri UK

This would be a great career move if you:
- Have substantial experience in consulting, professional services, GIS, technology, or a related discipline
- Have knowledge of Esri technology and the ArcGIS platform
- Have a strong track record of leading complex customer engagements and delivering meaningful outcomes
- Are experienced in building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and influencing strategic decision-making
- Can translate customer strategy and business challenges into compelling technology and services propositions
- Have strong commercial judgement and experience working with Sales or commercial teams to develop opportunities
- Can balance strategic thinking with enough technical credibility to challenge, advise, and influence effectively
- Have experience leading, coaching, or mentoring experienced consultants
- Are comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and taking ownership of complex customer relationships
- Bring curiosity and a genuine interest in how technology and GIS can help organisations tackle complex real-world challenges
