Principal Cost Estimator

Barrow in Furness Based (Hybrid working 2-3 days per week but can be flexible)

£81.05 per hour Umbrella inside IR35
12 Month Contract

Currently recruiting for a Principal Cost Estimator to work within one of the UK's leading defence organisations in Barrow in Furness.

The role is classed as a professional role. The role holder will work independently on the majority of tasks and under supervision on a minority of tasks. The role holder will be a member of a sector, business, or project team, delivering estimating services to meet operational needs.

These commercial services will typically include but not be limited to supporting and delivering:

  • Business Winning activities
  • Request for Bid Approval and Submission, Contract Agreement and Award activities
  • Contract execution phases
  • Contract Closure phases
  • Opportunity Identification and Exploitation

The role holder will work within a defined framework and will have an ability to re-focus their efforts in accordance with business priorities. The role holder will focus on augmenting their experience and understanding of the estimating role, delivering specific tasks and providing support to operations.

The role holder will be expected to provide guidance to and support the development of individuals in more junior roles. The role holder will have a good awareness and a good level of knowledge and experience of Estimating policy and practice.

Knowledge:

  • A great deal of experience, knowledge, and understanding of estimating skills and the commercial role
  • Relevant expertise or experience of estimating activities and responsibilities
  • An ability to prioritise workload and deliver in a timely manner
  • An ability to produce accurate work with attention to detail
  • A good level of BAE Systems business acumen
  • An excellent understanding of commercial and estimating policy, principles, and processes
  • A good understanding of how the commercial function and estimating discipline integrates with other functions
  • An ability to provide estimating solutions
  • An ability to influence internal and external Customers and Stakeholders
  • A strong understanding of the contracts role and considerations managed by the commercial discipline
