Principal Data Strategy Consultant
A dynamic, leading boutique data consultancy is seeking a Principal Data Strategy Consultant to join their expert team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on interesting and complex data strategy and transformation projects. You will engage with a wide variety of clients, from large enterprises and small start-ups to niche charities, taking ownership of projects across the full lifecycle.
The Role
In this client-facing Principal Data Strategy Consultant role, you will lead and drive high-impact strategic data initiatives for clients. You will work across, and lead, a range of client projects spanning data strategy development, data governance, data maturity assessments, and data literacy initiatives, alongside technical data and analytics projects.
On a day-to-day basis, you will act as the client’s primary point of contact, lead workshops with senior stakeholders, define scope of work, and manage project plans. You will also mentor and guide more junior team members when required. In addition, you will have the opportunity to apply your hands-on data skills, whether through coding, supporting data migrations, or assisting with data integration.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
This is a varied and engaging role that will draw on your broad and deep knowledge of data to help solve complex client problems and deliver meaningful outcomes. This role requires a hands-on doer, not just a ‘thought leader’.
What do you need?
To be considered, you will have a strong background in managing and delivering complex and/or strategic data projects across the full lifecycle.
Ideally, you will have experience within a client-facing consultancy environment and be able to evidence success across strategy, advisory, and solution delivery engagements.
You will have experience creating data strategies and be highly familiar with data maturity assessments, data vision development, use case and value mapping, data governance, and data literacy programmes.
Whilst this is not a heavily technical role, you will bring exposure to, or experience in, designing, building, and configuring end-to-end analytics solutions. This includes writing basic code (for example SQL or Python), data modelling, data migration, and an understanding of general IT architecture and systems integration. Strong documentation skills are also essential.

You must also be a self-starter who can take ownership of projects and lead teams to achieve agreed goals and objectives.
What is on offer?
This is a hybrid role offering lots of flexibility. You will manage your own diary but can expect to be in the London office (South Bank) 1-2 times per week for collaboration and to catch up with your team.
The role offers a competitive salary, depending on experience, in the range of £70,000 to £85,000, plus a high achievable annual bonus of £6k-£10k (paid quarterly). Additional benefits include private medical, a matched pension up to 5%, 25 days’ holiday, and other perks.
