To support the delivery of Principal Designer services in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).

The role will primarily focus on the technical coordination and administration of CDM documentation, supporting project teams and clients through the preparation, review and management of key project information. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of smaller projects under supervision whilst providing support on larger, more complex commissions. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual looking to develop a career in construction health and safety and Principal Designer services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering Principal Designer (CDM) services across a variety of projects and sectors.
  • Support the National Service Lead and Principal Designer Delivery.
  • Assist in advising clients regarding their responsibilities under CDM.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure key CDM deliverables are issued in accordance with our procedural requirements.
  • Liaise with internal design teams, clients and external consultants.
  • Manage your own portfolio of smaller projects.

Technical Administration

  • Prepare and maintain Pre-Construction Information (PCI).
  • Prepare F10 notifications and submit to the Health and Safety Executive where required.
  • Maintain and update Design Risk Registers and collate Design Risk Assessments from the team.
  • Coordinate design risk information received from project teams.
  • Assist in compiling and reviewing Health and Safety Files.
  • Maintain project records and document management systems.
  • Produce meeting notes and action trackers where required.
  • Prepare project documentation.
  • Manage a portfolio of lower-risk and smaller projects.
  • Monitor project deliverables and deadlines.
  • Track and follow up actions from designers and consultants.
  • Ensure project documentation remains accurate and up to date.
  • Escalate significant issues or project risks to National Service Lead.
  • Review design information for inclusion within Design Risk Registers.
  • Coordinate risk information from the design team.
  • Assist with design risk workshops and meetings.
  • Ensure residual risks are captured and communicated appropriately.
  • Respond to routine client enquiries.
  • Support multidisciplinary project teams with CDM requirements.
  • Assist in developing project-specific CDM documentation.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of construction projects and design processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015.
  • 2 Years previous experience in construction, design, project management or health and safety related role.

Desirable

  • Construction-related degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or working towards.
  • Membership of IOSH, APS or willingness to work towards membership.
