About The Role
As our Principal Development Management Officer, you’ll play a leading role in delivering high quality development across the district. You’ll take ownership of complex and high profile planning applications, guide developers and stakeholders, and help ensure sustainable growth that aligns with our long term ambitions.
You’ll also support and develop a dedicated team, helping build capability and driving performance, while working closely with senior leaders to shape the strategic direction of development management.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading on major and complex planning applications
- Working with developers, partners and stakeholders to bring forward high quality schemes
- Shaping sustainable growth in line with our Local Plan and regeneration priorities
- Supporting and developing a skilled and motivated team
- Contributing to strategic planning decisions and long term place shaping
- Representing the council at committees, inquiries and public forums where needed

- A qualified planner (or working towards chartered status)
- Experienced in handling complex planning applications
- Confident working with a range of stakeholders and negotiating outcomes
- Ready to step into a leadership role and support team development
- Resilient, proactive and solutions focused
