About the role:

Reporting to the Fastrac E&C Chief Engineer, the Principal EDS Engineer is responsible for leading the Electrical Distribution System (EDS) design across the Fastrac fleet.

Fastrac is one of JCB’s four key growth products and is central to its Agricultural offering. As the most electrically and electronically complex machine in JCB’s product range, this role presents a unique opportunity to lead and shape a critical engineering discipline within a high-profile product line.

You will act as the technical authority for EDS within Landpower, driving design excellence, ensuring delivery to programme milestones, and supporting innovation, quality, and standardisation across the platform.

What does this role involve day to day?

  • Act as EDS Lead for all Landpower products, owning delivery and design in line with JCB processes
  • Lead electrical schematic and harness design activities, either directly or through the Landpower EDS team
  • Produce and manage drawing creation and release plans in line with project timings and programme requirements
  • Define, document, release and sign-off electrical components, coordinating closely with suppliers and purchasing teams
  • Mentor, lead and manage workload across the EDS team, including collaboration with the remotely based India Design team
  • Ensure robust record keeping of all designs, revisions and updates in compliance with JCB standards and processes
  • Drive reuse of existing components, architectures and design approaches to improve efficiency and consistency
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with wider engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of EDS within the product
  • Support engineering problem-solving activities including cause and effect analysis, risk assessments, FMEA, 8D and Ishikawa methodologies
  • Ensure best practice in E&E component placement and harness routing is applied across all designs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, tools and quality systems

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
