Are you an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer with a strong background in the oil, gas and process industries?

We’re looking for a Principal Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join our Aberdeen team, taking a senior technical role across a range of onshore and offshore projects.

This is an opportunity to use your technical expertise and engineering judgement to independently assess, verify and certify electrical and instrumentation systems throughout the full asset lifecycle. You’ll work closely with clients, contractors and internal engineering teams, providing trusted technical guidance and helping ensure assets remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.

What you'll be doing

As a Principal E&I Engineer, you’ll work independently and as part of multidisciplinary project teams, with responsibilities including:

  • Carrying out independent verification of electrical and instrumentation design, installation and integrity.
  • Reviewing the design, analysis, selection and rating of electrical equipment and systems for offshore and onshore facilities.
  • Assessing compliance against project specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing technical evaluation of E&I studies and deliverables across FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, modification and decommissioning.
  • Reviewing engineering drawings, datasheets, specifications, calculations, studies and analyses.
  • Participating in HAZOP, SIL, FMECA and other technical and risk assessments.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical findings, appraisal reports, compliance assessments, verification reports and verification statements.
  • Supporting surveillance activities, audits, inspections and witness activities.
  • Working directly with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Planning and monitoring project resources, schedules and engineering hours.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
