Overview of the Role

Senior Electrical Engineer (HV Cable Design) – Join Our Dynamic Transmission & Distribution Team!

Are you passionate about designing high-voltage (HV) transmission systems? Do you thrive in delivering cutting-edge energy infrastructure for a sustainable future?

Following major project wins, our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team is expanding, and we’re seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to shape the backbone of our renewables projects. Your expertise will cover underground interconnectors, offshore wind farms, and substation/grid integration.

This is your opportunity to work on high-impact projects, collaborate with global specialists, and make measurable contributions to clean energy solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • HVAC/HVDC Cable System Design:
    • Lead design, development, and implementation of onshore and offshore HV transmission cable systems
    • Develop solutions for converter stations, substations, and grid networks
  • Feasibility & Assurance:
    • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for T&D cable projects
    • Enables sound decision-making for clients
  • Front-End Engineering Design (FEED):
    • Deliver innovative solutions for cable systems integration in major infrastructural projects
  • Consenting & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Lead interface with civil/environmental teams to align T&D projects with consenting requirements
  • Design Development:
    • Progress concept designs through to construction detail levels, covering tendering and fully detailed stages
  • Troubleshooting & Operations Support:
    • diagnose and resolve cable-related issues during installation, operations, and maintenance phases
  • Continuous Learning:
    • Stay current with advancements in HV materials, insulation technologies, and transmission systems

Requirements

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Electrical Engineering
  • Proven experience as a transmission cable systems engineer with industry exposure
  • Strong analytical skills for designing and solving complex HV problems
  • Adaptability to new challenges and confident project delivery based on prior experience
  • Excellent written communication (ability to draft reports, maintain documentation)
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills across multidisciplinary teams

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience designing both onshore and offshore cable systems
  • Specialisation in HV cable systems for UK & Ireland utilities
  • Familiarity with HVAC and HVDC transmission infrastructure
  • Proven ability to meet consenting and construction deadlines
