Principal Electrical Engineer - Nuclear

Location: Manchester (Hybrid)
Type of role: Permanent
Salary: £75,000 - £85,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist electrical input across projects and proposals
  • Draft, review, and approve engineering documents
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and graduates
  • Deliver electrical outputs to schedule, budget, and client expectations
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, standards, and client requirements
  • Prepare specifications and requisitions for HV/LV switchboards, transformers, and UPS systems
  • Apply CE marking compliance across ATEX, PED, LVD, Machinery, and EMC
  • Work to nuclear plant installation requirements throughout

Requirements

  • Extensive electrical engineering experience in the nuclear sector
  • Strong knowledge of design, installation standards, and UK legislation
  • Skilled in CE marking compliance - ATEX, PED, LVD, Machinery, EMC
  • Security cleared, or eligible for clearance
  • Solid grounding in risk management, HSE, and regulatory compliance
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical or Control Engineering
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or working towards professional registration
