Principal Electrical Engineer - Building Services

Birmingham

I'm working with a leading, design-led building services consultancy in a strong growth phase, with plans to significantly expand their Birmingham office over the next 12 months. This is a key leadership hire within a team that has a strong pipeline of secured work and long-term client relationships.

You'll work closely with the local Director, taking ownership of project delivery, client relationships, and technical leadership as the office scales.

The Role

  • Lead client liaison as key technical contact
  • Deliver and oversee electrical building services design across multiple projects
  • Produce calculations, specifications, drawings, and tender documentation
  • Manage multidisciplinary coordination and project delivery
  • Oversee financial performance, fees, and programme
  • Carry out site inspections and ensure design compliance
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team development
  • Contribute to system selection and commercial decision-making, ensuring solutions are technically and financially robust.

What They're Looking For

  • Degree qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
  • Chartered or working towards (CIBSE / IET)
  • Strong consultancy experience at Principal level
  • Confident client-facing communicator and team leader
  • Proficient in AutoCAD + working knowledge of Revit
  • Experience with AMTECH / Dialux / Relux (HEVACOMP or MEPWorx beneficial)
  • Strong commercial awareness and project delivery capability
