Principal Electronics Engineer

What You Will Be Doing
- Own the technical delivery of complex electronic designs from concept definition through to production release
- Lead the development of analogue, digital, RF and mixed-signal hardware for advanced sensing, instrumentation and embedded processing applications
- Define architecture, component selection and design approaches to meet technical, commercial and manufacturing objectives
- Review and approve schematics, PCB layouts, test strategies and engineering documentation to ensure quality and compliance with best practice
- Work directly with customers and project stakeholders to shape requirements, manage technical risk and communicate progress
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers across project teams
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering methods, design standards and development processes

Your Experience
- Extensive experience using Altium Designer for complex schematic capture and multilayer PCB design
- Strong background in high-density mixed-signal hardware incorporating high-speed digital and RF circuitry
- Detailed understanding of RF design principles, impedance control, grounding strategies, EMC and signal integrity considerations
- Experience developing embedded hardware platforms for DSP, software defined radio or advanced sensing applications
- Demonstrable success delivering products through design, prototyping, verification, manufacture and production support
- Ability to lead technical reviews, mentor engineers and communicate effectively with customers and multidisciplinary stakeholders
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
- Extensive experience leading electronic hardware development within a product development, consultancy or research-led environment
- Strong analogue, digital and RF design expertise across complex electronic systems
- Proven track record of taking products from concept through to manufacture and deployment
- Experience providing technical leadership, design authority or mentoring within multidisciplinary engineering teams

Salary
£50-85k per annum dependent upon experience

Where You Will Work
Somerset (full time on-site due to the secure nature of the work)
