Principal Embedded Engineer
Take ownership of how complex embedded systems are designed and delivered while shaping the engineering standards behind them. Build broader technical influence without stepping away from hands-on engineering.
What you will need
- British nationality
- Extensive embedded C or C++ development experience
- Strong knowledge of microcontrollers, System on Chip platforms, and Field Programmable Gate Arrays

- Lead embedded software and firmware development across complex defence systems
- Shape engineering processes, architectures, and verification strategies
- Guide technical delivery from requirements through design, integration, and release
- Support stronger collaboration across software, firmware, and hardware engineering
Skills and experience
- Experience defining embedded architectures, specifications, and verification plans
- Knowledge of hardware description languages such as VHDL and associated verification tools
- Understanding of safety-related engineering standards
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving technical capability across a team
