Principal Engineer - Civils
We're looking for an experienced Principal Engineer - Civils to provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across transmission and substation infrastructure.
The Role
You will:
- Own and maintain technical specifications for substation civil works, including buildings, bunds and trenches, incorporating lessons learned from projects.
- Act as a technical authority, reviewing and approving civil aspects of standardised substation construction.
- Provide expert technical advice to Project Engineering, Asset Management and Operations on scope, specifications, supplier selection and asset condition.
- Provide civil engineering expertise to Design Authority reviews, ensuring project proposals are fit for purpose.
- Represent the business at industry forums including ENA and CIGRE, supplier meetings and conferences.
- Lead the introduction of new technologies and construction approaches for substation infrastructure.

You'll have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering and Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution.
- Extensive experience in the design, specification, construction, operation and maintenance of civil infrastructure, ideally within the energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of relevant British and European Standards.
- Excellent technical judgement and the ability to assess complex issues and evaluate engineering solutions.
- Strong organisational, project management and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across a wide range of disciplines and seniority levels.
