At Tetra Tech

At Tetra Tech, you’ll help lead the development of solutions to some of the UK’s most important civil engineering and environmental challenges of our time. You’ll provide leadership across major projects, influencing strategic direction, shaping technical outcomes and setting the standard for quality, innovation and delivery.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

As a Principal Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and strategic oversight across a portfolio of civil engineering, flood risk management and infrastructure projects.

You will act as a senior technical authority, supporting teams, clients and delivery partners to develop solutions that are not only compliant and deliverable, but genuinely resilient and well-considered. You will play a leading role in setting technical direction, resolving issues, guiding multi-disciplinary coordination and assuring the quality of outputs across multiple projects or programmes.

The role will involve significant input into early-stage strategy, optioneering, governance, technical assurance, client relationships and the mentoring of engineers across the team.

Your Impact in this position

You will help define what excellent looks like. Your technical leadership will improve the quality, consistency and credibility of our work, helping deliver solutions that are robust, sustainable and trusted.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
