Principal Engineer (.NET)

London or Coventry | Hybrid (2 Days per Week) | Permanent

Shape the future of engineering. Influence technology at scale.

This is more than a Principal Engineer role.

It's an opportunity to define engineering strategy, influence technology decisions across multiple teams, and help build the next generation of enterprise platforms used by millions of customers.

We're looking for an exceptional Principal Engineer (.NET) who combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision. You'll be the technical authority behind large-scale engineering initiatives, driving innovation, modern architecture and engineering excellence across the organisation.

If you're passionate about modern software engineering, cloud-native architecture, AI, DevOps and mentoring high-performing teams, this is the role where your ideas will genuinely shape the future.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Principal Engineer, you'll sit at the heart of the engineering leadership community, providing technical direction, influencing strategy and ensuring engineering teams deliver scalable, secure and resilient solutions.

You'll

  • Define engineering strategy, architecture standards and technology roadmaps.
  • Lead the design of large-scale, cloud-native distributed systems.
  • Champion engineering excellence through DevOps, CI/CD, automation and modern software delivery practices.
  • Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies, AI capabilities and engineering frameworks.
  • Partner with senior engineering leaders, architects and stakeholders to influence technical direction.
  • Lead architectural decisions for high-availability, enterprise-scale platforms.
  • Promote Secure-by-Design principles and embed security throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Introduce observability best practices including monitoring, logging, SLI/SLO and operational excellence.
  • Mentor Staff Engineers, Senior Engineers and development teams, helping to grow the next generation of technical leaders.
  • Foster an engineering culture built around collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
