Trusted by institutions, governments, foundations and individuals worldwide, Macquarie Asset Management manages more than A$700 billion in assets under management, providing investment solutions across real assets, real estate, credit, equities and multi-asset strategies. As one of the world's largest and most experienced infrastructure and real assets investors, we play a significant role in financing, developing and managing the assets that underpin economies and communities globally.

Our Real Assets and Real Estate technology team operates at the intersection of investing, data and technology. Working directly with investment professionals, valuation and fund services teams, we solve complex challenges across the investment lifecycle and build the technology capabilities that support the future growth of our business.

The scale of our platform, combined with the increasing importance of data, automation and AI within private markets, creates a unique opportunity to influence how technology enables better decisions, drives operational excellence and delivers long-term value across a global investment business.

We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.

What role will you play?

As a Senior Technical Leader, you will be one of the most influential technical contributors within our Real Assets and Real Estate business. You will lead through technical credibility, influence and hands-on contribution rather than hierarchy. Staying close to the code, architecture and engineering decisions that shape our platform, you will mentor engineers, challenge conventional thinking and raise engineering standards across the organisation.

Working directly with senior leaders across technology and investments, you will help define not only what we build, but how we leverage technology as a strategic enabler of the business. You will shape platform strategy, guide architectural direction and champion the adoption of emerging technologies that support the future growth and scalability of our investment capabilities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will lead the evolution of platforms that support the end-to-end asset lifecycle, helping to create a connected ecosystem of applications, data products, workflows and AI-enabled capabilities that improve decision-making, increase transparency and drive scale across our Real Assets and Real Estate businesses.

From establishing trusted foundations for investment data to improving connectivity across front, middle and back-office functions, you will help solve some of the most complex technology challenges in private markets. You will also play a key role in identifying where AI, intelligent automation and modern engineering practices can deliver measurable business value.

What You Offer

  • A proven track record of building and evolving complex technology platforms, shaping architecture and driving technical strategy in large-scale, data-rich environments.
  • Deep software engineering expertise across modern application development, distributed systems, APIs and scalable platform design, with strong experience in technologies such as Python, FastAPI/Django and React.
  • A hands-on approach to engineering, remaining close to the code while influencing technical direction and raising engineering standards.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, including AI-assisted software development, agentic workflows and intelligent automation. Experience leveraging tools such as Claude Code, Enterprise Claude, Gemini, Copilot or similar technologies to enhance engineering productivity and accelerate delivery will be highly regarded.
  • Experience within asset management, private markets or financial services would be beneficial, but we are ultimately looking for engineers who thrive on ownership, complexity and impact.

We love hearing from anyone inspired to build a better future with us, if you're excited about the role or working at Macquarie we encourage you to apply.
