Job Title: Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering (Process, Governance & Maturity)
Location: Barrow-In-Furness, Coventry, Frimley Filton, Broad Oak
Working Arrangement: Full Hybrid - 2 days onsite every second week

Salary: circa £55,000

Job Description:
This is an operations-focused role within the Systems Engineering Transformation (SET) project, helping to ensure project processes run smoothly, consistently, and effectively. You will oversee governance activities, support tasks, facilitate change and configuration management, and ensure project engineering management documentation is maintained.
Core duties:
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the processes, methods, and toolsets used to govern and deliver requirements management and acceptance activities
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the processes, methods, and toolsets through which engineering configuration control is established, maintained, and assured
- Establish and maintain effective approaches for measuring and reporting engineering performance, maturity, and delivery status
- Ensure engineering management processes remain compliant with the mandated eLCM (Engineering Lifecycle Management) framework and project tailoring statement
- Manage the Integration of new Systems Engineering ways of working with the Business Management System (BMS)
- Develop and integrate Systems Engineering planning and maturity management approaches with the programme’s Project Control System
- Drive continuous improvement of processes, methods, and tools used to request, retrieve, manage, present, and share Systems Engineering information and knowledge with stakeholders

Essential Skills:
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering, with a solid understanding of the technical management processes and principles that underpin the discipline
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence team ways of working
- Proven requirements and acceptance management experience, including the management and control of requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle
- Good understanding of configuration control and change management, ideally within a complex engineering environment
- Experience using requirements and task management tools, such as DOORS and Jira, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) would be advantageous
The Systems Engineering Transformation (SET) team:
You will join a team playing a critical role in the SSNA programme, helping to establish and embed a modern Systems Engineering capability across complex programmes. The team is driving a step-change in how Systems Engineering is applied, developing improved processes, tools, and ways of working that enable BAE Systems to meet the challenges of delivering the next generation of submarines.
