At Allstate, great things happen when our people work together to protect families and their belongings from life’s uncertainties. And for more than 90 years, our innovative drive has kept us a step ahead of our customers’ evolving needs. From advocating for seat belts, air bags and graduated driving laws, to being an industry leader in pricing sophistication, telematics, and, more recently, device and identity protection.

Your role in the team

The Principal Engineer, Workforce, Customer & Agentic Identity, leads the technical strategy, architecture, and modernization of identity capabilities across workforce, customer, machine, and emerging AI agent identities. This hands-on technical leader champions secure, frictionless customer and employee experiences by partnering closely with engineering, product, and security teams to evolve authentication, authorization, governance, and access management capabilities. Leveraging deep expertise in modern identity platforms, Zero Trust principles, and emerging agentic identity models, the Principal Engineer influences enterprise strategy, drives adoption of transformative solutions, and helps shape the future of identity across Allstate's digital ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the technical strategy and architecture for workforce, customer, machine, and agentic identity platforms across the enterprise.
  • Champion identity as a business enabler by improving customer authentication experiences while maintaining strong security, governance, and compliance standards.
  • Partner directly with engineers, architects, product teams, and security leaders to design, implement, and modernize identity solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership for authentication, authorization, federation, identity governance, lifecycle management, privileged access management, and access certification capabilities.
  • Lead the evaluation, design, and adoption of identity platforms and technologies, including Ping Identity, SailPoint, and emerging identity standards.
  • Drive Zero Trust initiatives through implementation of MFA, risk-based authentication, fine-grained authorization, identity governance, and least-privilege access controls.
  • Define identity strategies and governance models for machine identities, service accounts, workload identities, and emerging AI agents.
  • Establish identity controls and lifecycle processes for autonomous and agentic systems, including delegated authority, ownership, governance, and privileged access management.
  • Influence and drive enterprise adoption of identity modernization initiatives by clearly articulating business value, customer impact, and security outcomes.
  • Collaborate with digital product teams to create seamless, secure, and scalable customer identity experiences that improve engagement, trust, and retention.
  • Remain actively involved in architecture, troubleshooting, integration design, and implementation efforts while mentoring engineering teams and driving technical excellence.
  • Establish engineering standards, reference architectures, and best practices that advance Allstate's long-term identity roadmap and Zero Trust strategy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
