Principal Software Engineer
đź“ŤLondon, hybrid working
A growing technology company is looking for a senior software engineer to take a leading role in shaping and building its next generation of technology.
This is a highly technical position for someone who enjoys staying hands-on while also having significant influence over architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction.
You’ll work across Engineering, Product, Design, and other teams to turn complex problems into reliable, scalable software, while helping raise the technical bar across the wider engineering function.

- Shape technical direction and architecture across key areas of the platform
- Design and build complex software systems from early concepts through to production
- Work closely with senior engineers on technical decisions and system design
- Improve engineering processes, development practices, and delivery
- Turn requirements into technical solutions
- Help develop and mentor experienced engineers
- Remain hands-on and involved in solving challenging technical problems

What we’re looking for
- Significant experience building and scaling software
- Background in system design, architecture, and software engineering
- Experience operating at senior/staff/principal level within a strong engineering environment
- Comfortable providing technical direction without relying on formal management authority
- A track record of working on complex technical problems and taking ownership from idea through to production
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Someone who enjoys being hands-on while also influencing wider engineering direction
- Experience working in a fast-moving product or technology company
