🚀 Hiring: Principal Engineering Lead
📍 London, UK – 100% Onsite
📅 12-Month FTC or FTE
We’re looking for an experienced Principal Engineering Lead to drive engineering excellence, technical strategy, architecture, and people leadership across multiple teams and technology domains.
🔹 Key Responsibilities
- Drive engineering standards, architecture, and technical direction
- Lead cloud-native solution design, preferably on Microsoft Azure
- Establish best practices across SDLC, DevOps, CI/CD, security, testing, observability, and resilience
- Lead strategic engineering initiatives across products and teams
- Build engineering capability through coaching, mentoring, and people leadership
- Drive AI-enabled engineering practices and continuous improvement
- Establish reusable engineering patterns, frameworks, and ways of working
- Partner with Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, and Engineering leadership
- Align technical decisions with business value, delivery outcomes, and cost optimisation

🔹 Key Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience in software engineering and solution architecture
- Experience across multiple programming languages, frameworks, and technology stacks
- Strong Azure / cloud-native engineering experience
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and strategic technical initiatives
- 4+ years of people management experience
- Strong knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, secure engineering, observability, and platform engineering
- Experience with engineering standards, Centres of Excellence, Communities of Practice, or engineering maturity programmes
- Understanding of cloud economics, cost optimisation, and TCO
- Exposure to AI-enabled engineering tools, workflows, or operating models is highly desirable
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills
