Our Highways – Transport Projects team are looking for a passionate and dedicated Principal Engineering Project Manager to join our amazing team and help make a difference today.

About The Role

As a Project Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of a diverse portfolio of highways capital projects, managing schemes from initial feasibility through to design, approval, and construction. You will work closely with communities, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and elected members to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with strategic priorities. You will also oversee project budgets, funding applications, procurement processes, and performance management, ensuring value for money and positive outcomes for residents.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and innovative professional with excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills. You will be confident working independently while managing competing priorities and delivering complex projects.

You Will Have

  • Experience managing capital projects, ideally within highways, transportation, infrastructure, or a related field.
  • Strong project management, financial management, and budget monitoring skills.
  • Experience preparing reports, business cases, funding applications, and tender documentation.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with communities, partners, senior managers, and elected members.
  • Knowledge of contract management, governance processes, and project delivery best practice.
  • The ability to analyse complex information and develop practical, creative solutions.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied portfolio of projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to develop trusted relationships with senior leaders, business partners, and external stakeholders, balancing competing priorities while ensuring strategic objectives are met.
