About The Role

As a Principal Enterprise Architect within BT's Health & Communities business, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital transformation across the UK's Health & Communities landscape.

Working at the intersection of technology strategy, innovation and customer engagement, you will collaborate with senior customer stakeholders, industry partners and BT leadership to influence long-term technology direction and investment priorities across healthcare providers, integrated care systems, local authorities, education organisations and wider public sector bodies.

Rather than focusing solely on architecture governance or programme delivery, this role is centred on identifying emerging challenges, shaping future opportunities and helping customers define transformation strategies before formal procurements, bids or tenders are established.

You will provide strategic thought leadership across key technology domains including Artificial Intelligence, cloud, cyber security, networking, digital infrastructure, data platforms and citizen services, helping organisations deliver better outcomes for patients, citizens and communities.

Acting as a trusted advisor, you will help position BT as a strategic technology partner while supporting the growth of the Health & Communities vertical through innovation, market insight and technology leadership.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Define and influence long-term technology strategies across BT's Health & Communities sector, helping customers navigate complex transformation challenges and future technology investment decisions.
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior decision-makers, executives and technology leaders across healthcare, local government, education and wider public sector organisations.
  • Develop deep understanding of market drivers, government priorities, policy changes and sector challenges to identify opportunities where technology can deliver meaningful outcomes.
  • Shape customer transformation roadmaps across Artificial Intelligence, cloud services, cyber security, digital infrastructure, networking, collaboration, data platforms and digital citizen services.
  • Lead strategic technology conversations with customers before formal procurement cycles commence, helping shape future programmes, investment priorities and solution requirements.
  • Support BT's commercial growth by identifying emerging opportunities, contributing to strategic account planning and helping create future sales pipelines.
  • Partner with Sales, Specialist Sales, Commercial, Product and Delivery teams to develop compelling propositions and support major customer engagements, bids and strategic opportunities.
  • Drive thought leadership across the Health & Communities sector by producing insights, presenting at industry events and contributing to strategic customer discussions.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, regulatory developments and market trends to ensure BT remains at the forefront of innovation within healthcare and public services.
  • Shape and influence BT's sector strategy through the development of innovative solutions and service propositions aligned to evolving customer needs.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with technology partners, healthcare ecosystem providers, government stakeholders, analysts and industry bodies.
  • Champion the adoption of technologies that improve patient outcomes, citizen experiences, operational efficiency and service resilience.
  • Provide technology leadership and mentoring across the wider architecture and technology community, sharing expertise and developing future capability.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
