Principal Expert Cloud Operations
We are looking for a new member to join our highly skilled team to take the role of senior contributor and tech lead.
Our team develops, operates, and monitors a system where Kubernetes is used to maintain a large fleet of pods running Schneider Electric proprietary software. The team also supports the Support organization by providing monitoring dashboards and actionable alerts, ensuring incidents are always discovered internally first.
The system our team creates is managed by a Web Portal, also created by us, as is the communication between the components. We are a team leaning heavily on automation, CI/CD, and rely heavily on Infrastructure as Code and GitOps.
Required skills & experience
- Experience providing technical guidance and leadership to a team, including guiding and mentoring team members and acting as a bridge between the Product Owner and the technical team.
- Experience facilitating key technical decisions and proactively identifying and addressing technical risks and technical debt.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and the extended toolbox (Cert-Manager, Loki, Mimir, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Istio, Kyverno, Helm & Kustomize).
- Deep knowledge of Infrastructure-As-Code, Terraform, and GitOps.
- Deep understanding of networking and routing. Experience working with, and troubleshooting, in complex network architectures.
- Experience with developing Kubernetes controllers/operators.
- Experience collaborating with Cyber Security, including implementing cyber security best practices into a live product.
- 5+ years of experience working with monitoring and alerting, familiarity with operating software under strict SLA.
- Desire and ability to regularly learn new technologies and their ecosystems.
- Excellent English knowledge: Clearly communicate tech and code decisions both in writing and verbally.
Bonus qualifications
- Knowledge or experience with OpenShift or other deployments of Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of Rust programming language.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform and AKS.
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Experience working with an automated test suite (for example using Kyverno Chainsaw).
- Experience in working within a distributed team with team members and stakeholders in different locations and time zones.
Other requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of Agile development.
- Ability and ambition to work on-site in Lund office 3x/week.
- A strong desire to always learn and improve.
