About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Flood Risk Consultant/Engineer who will play a leading role in the delivery of flood risk assessment and management solutions, hydraulic modelling and sustainable drainage projects for major development, regeneration and infrastructure schemes. Working within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and environmental specialists, you will help clients navigate complex flood risk challenges while delivering sustainable and innovative solutions.

You will also contribute to the growth of our Flood Risk business by identifying opportunities with existing and new clients, helping to shape our service offering, and supporting the development of key markets across the UK.

  • Provide technical leadership on flood risk, drainage and water environment projects across the UK.
  • Lead and deliver Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) in support of infrastructure, residential and mixed-use developments. Embed mitigation and resilience in the design process, through engagement with the designers, regulators and key stakeholders while satisfying planning and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and undertake hydraulic and hydrological modelling studies to assess flood risk from rivers, surface water and drainage systems.
  • Lead the preparation of Drainage Strategies and Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) designs in accordance with national and local standards.
  • Liaise with clients, Local Planning Authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities, the Environment Agency and other stakeholders.
  • Manage project delivery, budgets, programmes and quality assurance processes.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members and provide technical review of project outputs.
  • Support business development opportunities through market analysis, client engagement, tender submissions, and proposal preparation.
  • Collaborate with wider Egis teams across the UK and internationally to deliver integrated and innovative solutions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
