Job Summary

A vacancy has arisen for an experienced and motivated Genetic Counsellor to join our Principal Genetic Counsellor team. This is a full-time position (part time will be considered) for a Registered Genetic Counsellor. The post-holder will be expected to provide an expert genetic counselling service in line with the job description and personal specification. This will include taking the lead role for one or more areas of genetic counselling, likely in rare genetic disease, prenatal, inherited cardiac conditions, and/or neurogenetics, to meet the needs of the service and applicant’s expertise/interests.

LCGS is based at Joseph’s Well, close to the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) site in central Leeds, with easy public transport links. Although the majority of Genetic Counselling clinics are run virtually, some face-to-face clinics are held in the nearby LGI, and it is possible that additional face-to-face clinics will be re-established in district hospitals in the future – if so some occasional travel may be required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
