Purpose & Scope of the Role
Our Geo-Environment Business is a dynamic team of around 140 specialists across 10 offices in the UK and Ireland, working across Land Quality and Ground Risk, Ground Investigation, and Groundwater & Geothermal Services. We support key sectors including Energy, Water, Defence, Nuclear, and Property, and have grown by around 50% in the last four years, with ambitious plans to sustain this growth over the next 4–5 years.
Your Impact in this position
As a Principal Environmental Due Diligence Consultant, you will lead more complex programmes of work, coordinate multiple projects, and deliver high-quality technical advice to clients. You will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, mentor and support junior colleagues, manage projects and finances, and contribute to the development of our land quality business.
5 Core Capabilities
- Technical expertise – Apply strong knowledge of ground risk management, due diligence, environmental regulations, contaminated land guidance, Part 2A, and the development planning regime.
- Client engagement – Work confidently with corporate, financial, and legal clients, both face to face and via Teams, building trusted relationships.
- Project leadership – Coordinate multi-discipline due diligence teams across Flood Risk, Ecology, BNG, Noise, and Air Quality, while managing quality, budgets, resources, and programme.
- Coaching and collaboration – Mentor, support, line manage, and train junior team members, contributing positively across disciplines and geographies.
- Technical communication – Review Phase 1 Environmental Due Diligence Reports and ground constraints assessments, and produce clear, detailed reports that give clients confidence.

Training, Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in geology, engineering geology, environmental science, or a related subject.
- 10+ years’ post-graduate consulting experience, ideally with corporate, financial, legal, and property, logistics, or energy clients.
- Chartership is preferred, and support is available if you are working towards it.
- Full driving licence required.
Working Environment
We offer flexible working, including hybrid, remote, and flexible arrangements. Office presence will be expected in line with project and team needs.
