Location: Hackney

Salary: GBP65,000 - GBP70,000

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principal Geotechnical Design Engineer to join a growing consultancy based in Hackney. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geotechnical engineer to join a small, close-knit team working on a range of exciting new build developments across London and the UK.

The company predominantly specialises in structural consultancy, with geotechnical engineering forming an important part of their wider technical offering. You will play a key role in developing the geotechnical capability of the business, delivering high-quality design solutions and working closely with structural engineers and project teams.

This role would suit an experienced geotechnical design engineer who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is looking for the opportunity to take ownership of projects while contributing to the continued growth of the team.

The Role

  • Leading geotechnical design input for a range of new build developments
  • Producing detailed geotechnical assessments, calculations and design reports
  • Designing foundations, retaining structures, basements and ground improvement solutions
  • Working closely with structural engineers, architects and wider project teams
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring junior members of the team
  • Supporting the continued development of the geotechnical offering within the business
  • Managing projects from concept through to delivery

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in geotechnical design consultancy
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK ground conditions and design standards
  • Experience with foundation design, retaining structures and basement developments
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body
  • Confident working independently and managing technical deliverables
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients and multidisciplinary teams
