An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Principal Geotechnical Design Engineer to join its close-knit geotechnical team in Central London.
This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading technical role within a respected consultancy that delivers complex structural, civil and geotechnical engineering projects across London. The team is heavily involved in high-profile new developments, working closely with structural and civil engineers from concept through to construction.
- Joining a collaborative environment where geotechnical engineers are involved from the earliest design stages, providing technical input on foundations, retaining structures, basement excavations and temporary works for a wide range of commercial, residential and mixed-use developments.

- Lead the geotechnical design on a variety of development projects across London.
- Design foundations, retaining walls, basement excavations, earthworks and temporary works.
- Produce and review geotechnical design calculations and technical reports.
- Carry out geotechnical assessments and provide ground-related design advice to project teams.
- Work closely with structural and civil engineers to develop practical and economical design solutions.
- Manage client relationships and attend design meetings.
- Mentor and support junior members of the geotechnical team.
- Oversee project delivery, ensuring technical quality and programme requirements are achieved.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or equivalent).
- Strong background in geotechnical design within a UK consultancy.
- Experience designing foundations, retaining structures and basement excavations.
- Familiarity with industry software such as Oasys Suite, PLAXIS, GeoStudio or similar.
- Excellent technical reporting and client-facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior engineers.
