Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Exeter

Salary: GBP50,000 - GBP65,000

Are you an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer looking for an opportunity to take the next step in your career, helping to mentor and develop a growing team while delivering technically challenging projects?

We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join an established geotechnical team in Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong engineer who is looking to take on a leadership role, supporting the development of junior engineers while continuing to work on a varied portfolio of geotechnical projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality geotechnical solutions across a range of sectors, including residential, commercial, infrastructure, and development projects. You will be involved in projects from ground investigation through to design and reporting, while helping to support the growth and progression of the wider team.

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer Role Will Involve

  • Managing and delivering a variety of geotechnical projects from investigation through to design and completion
  • Providing technical input into ground investigations, interpretative reports, and geotechnical assessments
  • Carrying out geotechnical design including foundations, slopes, retaining structures, and earthworks
  • Reviewing and interpreting site investigation data
  • Mentoring and supporting junior and graduate engineers, helping to develop technical capability within the team
  • Assisting with project management, client liaison, and technical delivery
  • Supporting the continued growth and development of the geotechnical team in Exeter

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Significant experience working within geotechnical engineering
  • Strong knowledge of ground investigations, geotechnical design, and interpretative reporting
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers would be highly beneficial
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body (or working towards) is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients and project teams
