Salary: GBP45,000 - GBP65,000


An exciting opportunity has become available for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing and highly technical engineering consultancy based in Central London. This role offers the chance to take a leading role within the geotechnical team, delivering innovative design solutions across a diverse portfolio of complex projects.

The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise in geotechnical design and a proven ability to lead projects, mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued growth and development of the team.


The Role

As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and delivering a range of geotechnical design projects across the built environment and infrastructure sectors. You will work closely with clients, multidisciplinary teams and internal engineers to provide high-quality, practical engineering solutions.

  • Leading geotechnical design projects from concept through to delivery
  • Providing technical input across foundation design, retaining structures, earthworks and ground improvement schemes
  • Undertaking and reviewing geotechnical calculations, assessments and reports
  • Managing client relationships and supporting business development activities
  • Mentoring and supporting junior and graduate engineers
  • Reviewing technical work to ensure quality and compliance with industry standards
  • Collaborating with structural, civil and other engineering disciplines
  • Contributing to innovative engineering solutions for complex ground conditions
  • Supporting the continued growth and development of the geotechnical team

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
  • Significant experience within geotechnical consultancy
  • Strong background in geotechnical design and analysis
  • Experience with foundation design, retaining walls, slope stability and ground improvement
  • Ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with clients
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body (or working towards chartership)
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills
