Intelance Identity and Data Access Consultant
Intelance is building a trusted associate team for senior identity and data access work. We are looking for a Principal IAM Consultant to act as the design authority on complex client engagements. You will turn business access needs, system evidence and security requirements into a clear access model that teams can implement and operate.
Tasks
Your work will include:
- Leading the design of identity governance and data access models across Microsoft and business platforms.
- Challenging discovery findings before they are presented to senior client stakeholders.
- Mapping who should see and change client, fund and confidential business information.
- Designing access rules for joiners, role changes and leavers.
- Defining roles, groups, approval routes, access reviews and controlled exceptions.
- Reviewing service accounts, integrations and delegated access.
- Connecting Microsoft Entra, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, data platforms and business applications into one workable design.
- Turning the design into clear implementation steps, dependencies and evidence of completion.
- Working directly with technology, security, data and business leaders.
- Providing proportionate assurance during pilot and delivery work.

The first assignment is expected to be a small number of paid review days. Further work will depend on client approval and funded delivery.
Requirements
Essential:
- Strong recent experience designing identity governance and access models in complex organisations.
- Deep hands on knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory.
- Practical experience of joiner, role change and leaver processes.
- Experience designing role based access, access reviews, privileged access and exception controls.
- Experience governing service accounts and access used by integrations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint permissions.
- Experience connecting business access decisions to technical groups, roles and permissions.
- Able to challenge evidence and explain risks and design choices in plain English.
- Comfortable working with senior client stakeholders and taking ownership of design quality.
- Based in the United Kingdom and able to work during UK business hours.
- Available for short assignments with the potential to support later delivery.
Strong advantage:
- Experience with Snowflake or other modern data platforms.
- Experience with AI tools or connectors that can reach company information.
- Experience in financial services, investment management or another regulated business.
- Experience supporting an access redesign or implementation across several connected systems.
