We are looking for a Principal Manager, Personal & Home Care to join our Personal & Home Care team, based in the UK or Ireland.

About this role

The Principal Manager Personal & Home Care is responsible for managing and developing current and future principal supplier relationships for the UK and Ireland Personal & Home Care market. The role works closely with the UK/Ireland sales teams and colleagues in technical, supply chain, quality, regulatory and marketing, as well as with principals, to translate principal strategies into local commercial execution, drive profitable growth, expand the portfolio and ensure that agreed local sales and principal objectives are achieved.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Maintain, grow and develop assigned Personal & Home Care principals through increased sales volume, gross profit, product mix, portfolio expansion and strategic growth initiatives in the UK and Ireland.
  • Identify and develop new principal opportunities and maintain a clear new principal opportunity pipeline for Personal & Home Care.
  • Drive business development together with the UK/Ireland commercial teams for targeted principals, customers, applications and market segments.
  • Develop and execute business plans for assigned principals, including growth programmes, target accounts, pipeline development, launch plans and performance reviews.
  • Manage relationships with principals, customers, distributors and internal stakeholders including Sales, Technical, Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing and Finance.
  • Coordinate pricing, offers, samples, product documentation, forecasts, contracts, claims and customer requests in collaboration with internal teams and principals.
  • Track and analyse activity and performance, including profitable growth, principal KPIs, pipeline development, target accounts, samples, leads and opportunities.
  • Assist Regional Principal Managers with consolidating results, pipelines, market metrics and trends.
  • Coordinate principal communication, product and market training, marketing programmes, new product launches and supplier performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with other Principal Managers and regional colleagues to support principal opportunities relevant to the UK and Ireland Personal & Home Care business.
  • Support continuous improvement of internal processes, reporting, CRM data quality and ways of working with principals.
  • Ensure relevant product, quality, regulatory and commercial documentation is collected, maintained and shared with the appropriate internal teams.
  • Collect and update market intelligence in CRM to support current business, future opportunities and principal strategy discussions.
  • Support and lead by example in line with Barentz’ Purpose, Values and Strategies.
  • Participate in ongoing personal and professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties as requested.

About You

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or another science-related field preferred; candidates with equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant industry experience in Personal & Home Care ingredients, speciality chemicals, surfactants, actives, formulations or related markets.
  • Supplier and business development experience required, preferably in an international or multi-market environment.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of Personal & Home Care product development, formulation, ingredient functionality, manufacturing and relevant quality/regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in sourcing, portfolio management or commercial development of speciality Personal & Home Care ingredients.
  • Ability to develop meaningful and productive business relationships at all levels to gain alignment in support of Barentz.
  • Technical sales focus with speciality ingredients for Personal & Home Care applications.
  • Exceptional organisational, planning, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong computer and technical skills.
  • International business skills.
  • Fluent English is required; additional languages relevant to the UK/Ireland customer or principal base are an advantage.
